Rochelle Mazar

Librarian, Writer, Troublemaker

I started my career providing faculty support for instructional and emerging technologies at the University of Toronto Mississauga. In 2015 I moved toward staff development and change management work in a senior leadership role at the University of Rochester, leading a portfolio containing a wide variety of faculty- and student-facing services. I returned home to Canada, and in 2021, I settled into the role of Assistant Director, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC Library, where I focus on delivering top-notch spaces and services and advancing the work of reconciliation.

I am chair of the planning committee for the Ontario Library Association’s annual conference, Library as Place, and hope to see you there in June. I also provide occasional consulting on workplace culture repair and library functional program documentation for library design projects.

In addition to my work in libraries, I also write middle grade fiction.
