Rochelle Mazar
Writer, Librarian, Troublemaker.
I’m an Associate Chief Librarian at Western University. I’ve been an academic librarian for a while now, and you may know me from my time at University of Toronto Mississauga, the University of Rochester, or the University of British Columbia. I’m also on the planning committee for the Ontario Library Association’s Library as Place conference. I love libraries, and I love working in them.
I’m from Guelph, Ontario. I went to school in Ottawa, Toronto, London, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. I love school, and I never really left.
I also write novels, mostly about 9–12 year olds (middle grade). I love writing about magic, speculative science, Neanderthals, queer joy, forever friendships, and neurodivergence from the inside. I also write about 11 year old girls who turn into a swarm of bees, trees who turn into 11 year old girls, and kids who see your emotions as coloured steam rising off your shoulders. And more.
I live in a house that looks like a wedding cake.
My favourite colour is yellow.
